20 Books That Changed My Life - #1 (The first personal development book I ever read).

Updated: Oct 31, 2022

1. 'Don't Sweat The Small Stuff... and it's all small stuff.'

- Simple ways to keep the little things from taking over your life by Richard Carlson, PH.D.

My friends, this book restored my spirit in a time of absolute need, and boy was it bittersweet.

This is the book that helped me link how I was experiencing my world with what I was experiencing inside.

At this point in my life I had very little awareness about me. Those who knew me well would say that Perfectionism and anxiety were somewhat the boss of me...

Each tiny chapter of this book felt profound and as if I was being walked home in a powerful and relevant way. I wanted to remember every page.

This book reinstated me as the person in charge of my life, and spurred a journey of self-reclamation that landed me here today.

Can you believe it?

All thanks to a book by an author who may never truly know the impact he had. Of course, I'm grateful every day. And to my sister, Katrina, who I 'stole' this book from and never returned (love you, sis).

Inside the pages of this book you'll find 100 small ways to reclaim your power, laced with a beautiful gentleness that guides you to re-experience the power already within you.

My most valuable piece of insight relative to this book is;

The more you allow what you cannot control to consume the thoughts you think, the more you will experience life as something that happens to you, not for you.

Put another way, you will experience a life that you are the boss of when you begin to reclaim self-responsibility. And this is a powerful and weighty notion to contemplate, isn't it? Because in order to be powerful, we must be willing to surrender to the truth which is, nothing happens to us, only for us.
